Hum Along | -DF-2 Distortion Recreation
Yellow Star LED models have been discontinued - Blue and Greeeeen LED only from now on.
The HUM Along will have you Summoning Waves of distortion from an obscure 90s circuit beloved by “underground” guitarists. Spend an Afternoon With The Axolotls in a Dreamboat, or visit Cloud City in The Pod. Look up at the Stars and see the Little Dipper, then remember that it’s all Green To Me as you play your Songs Of Farewell And Departure.

The HUM Along is a modern, way louder recreation of the Boss DF-2 Super Feedbacker & Distortion as used by Matt Talbot from the fabulous band HUM, and other brilliant alternative rock bands like Swervedriver. It’s also a great pedal in it’s own right.
It has been made while studying old 80s and 90s models, to get the sound right while I updated it for modern use. It’s not just a DF-2 Clone, I promise.
This includes stuff like being three times as loud; it has enough headroom to get over pretty much any pickup you throw at it. The Feedbacker has been trimmed out as it’s immensely complex, takes up a lot of space inside the enclosure, and Digitech have come up with the FreQout since then. 9-18V operation is also available to bring extra headroom, and a different character to the distortion. That said, you can absolutely use your normal BOSS PSA style power supply.
“I am loving the pedal! … Everything I love about the DF-2 is there, but with all the volume I could ever need.”
“I am stoked about it dude! Sounds and looks awesome!”
“Sounds amazing, really helps me dial in that tone I’ve been searching for.”

For those not in the know, the DF-2 was Boss’s attempt at bringing feedback sounds to lower volume levels. It was a dirt pedal based on (but ultimately very dissimilar to) the DS-1, with a oscillator tacked on top to synthesize feedback. It wasn’t a perfect feature. The Feedbacker has been left out on the HUM Along to leave behind the huge wall of distortion. It’s less angular-sounding, less ear-piercing, more articulate and more dynamic than the DS-1 on which it’s based, sharing some key differences in the circuitry and component choice. All of that has been recreated here. I hope you like it too.
